Texas country singer-songwriter Elle Townley will release her new single, “You’re Not Enough,” on Friday, Aug. 21, the same day the Georgetown native turns 18.

Written by Townley and produced by Oliver Ocean at Orb Recording Studios, the song addresses self-worth and the decision to leave a relationship after realizing another person’s expectations should not determine one’s value. A lyric video will be released on Townley’s YouTube channel in conjunction with the single.

Townley said the song grew out of a text exchange with someone who told her she was “too much.”

“This song was born from one blunt text message from a guy I was talking to who told me I was ‘too much,’” Townley said. “At first, it stung, but I realized I wasn’t the problem. My response became the song’s title: ‘If I’m too much, then you’re not enough.’ I hope it reminds people to never minimize themselves just to be accepted.”

“You’re Not Enough” follows two singles Townley released in 2025, “Taking Off My Halo” and the holiday song “Perfect Christmas.” She is preparing a debut album for release in 2027.

Townley won the Texas Country Music Association’s Young Artist of the Year award in 2025 after previously receiving nominations in the category in 2022 and 2024. She also finished as runner-up in the Texas State Songwriters Association Female Songwriter Championship.

In 2026, Townley received several Josie Music Awards nominations. They include Artist of the Year and Vocalist of the Year in the under-18 categories; Best Actress in a Music Video and Social Impact Video of the Year for “Perfect Christmas”; and Country Female Song of the Year for “Taking Off My Halo.”

Her earlier competition appearances include winning the Old Settler’s Music Festival Youth Talent Competition in 2021 and finishing among the finalists in the Houston Rodeo Rockstar competition.

Townley has appeared on The Heartland Network, “WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour,” Teen Kids News, CBS Austin and FOX 7 Austin, as well as in Postcards Magazine, Austin Woman and AIM Country Music.

She is scheduled to perform “You’re Not Enough” on FOX 7 Austin’s “Good Day Austin” on Sept. 4.

Townley also has several Texas performances scheduled through November. She will appear Aug. 25 at Silver Saddle Saloon in Granbury; Aug. 29 at 2920 Roadhouse in Hockley, opening for Bri Bagwell; Sept. 5 at Circuit of the Americas in Austin; Sept. 11 at Purely Provisions in Round Rock; Oct. 16 at Backporch Social in Round Rock; and Nov. 13 at Saddle Shop Saloon in Georgetown.
