Women in Music, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing opportunities and visibility for women in the music industry, has launched a new chapter in Dallas, Texas. The expansion marks the organization’s continued growth in cities with emerging music and entertainment markets.

Founded in 1985, Women in Music is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with chapters across the U.S. and internationally. The organization focuses on education, empowerment, and community-building for women working in all sectors of the music industry – from performance and production, to law, media, and business. Its membership includes individuals at every stage of their careers, from students to industry professionals.
The Dallas chapter arrives as the North Texas music scene continues to grow. Organizers say the timing aligns with increasing demand for community and professional development among women in the region’s music industry.
“With the recent growth of the entertainment and music industries across North Texas, it seemed the opportune time to launch a Dallas chapter,” said Maureen Womack, who will serve as chapter chair. “We have a strong group of women on this leadership team in a variety of careers including artist management, publicity, law, journalism, and performance. They’re committed to building a network that supports professionals throughout the metroplex.”
The chapter is inclusive and open to anyone in the music industry across North Texas, regardless of gender identity.
Women in Music, Dallas will host its inaugural networking event on Thursday, August 21 at Sundown at Granada. The event, which begins at 7:00 p.m., will include performances by local artists Amy Curnow, Frankie Leonie, Remy Reilly, and Jenni Rose. The mixer is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about the new chapter and its initiatives.
