The 13th annual Eric Nadel Birthday Benefit will take place Thursday, May 29, at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas, marking the event’s first time at the historic venue. The benefit concert is part of the Longhorn Ballroom’s 75th anniversary celebration and will feature performances by Shinyribs and The Secret Sisters.

Presented by Haynes Boone, with media sponsorship by KXT 91.7, the event will raise funds for the Grant Halliburton Foundation, a Dallas-based nonprofit focused on mental health education and support for youth and families.

Eric Nadel, the longtime Texas Rangers radio broadcaster and mental health advocate who founded the event, said he is thrilled to bring the benefit to a larger venue and share the stage with two energetic and engaging musical acts.

“We’re showcasing two artists who present the most entertaining live shows I’ve ever seen,” Nadel said. “Secret Sisters’ humor and harmonies are totally endearing, and nobody puts on the type of dynamic, charismatic live show that Kevin Russell and Shinyribs present. It should be an epic night for the audience and for the Grant Halliburton Foundation.”

Shinyribs, an Austin-based group led by Kevin Russell, is known for its genre-defying blend of Texas blues, New Orleans funk, soul, country, and swing. Their performances are celebrated for their theatrical flair, crowd interaction, and musical diversity.

The Secret Sisters, a folk duo from Alabama, are recognized for their haunting harmonies, clever on-stage banter, and collaborations with artists such as Brandi Carlile and Ray LaMontagne.

The Grant Halliburton Foundation was created in memory of a Dallas teenager who lost his life to suicide after years of struggling with depression and bipolar disorder. Since its founding in 2006, the organization has become a leading force in North Texas for mental health education, suicide prevention, and youth-focused support services. Through school programs, professional training, and community outreach, the Foundation has reached hundreds of thousands of students, parents, and educators with vital information and resources. Its initiatives include Here For Texas, a free navigation service and website that connects individuals and families with trusted mental health and addiction support in the area. At its heart, the Foundation is committed to helping young people recognize the signs of mental health challenges and ensuring that no one has to face those struggles alone.
