Texxas Jam Rewind

North Texas turned up the volume back in March as tribute bands took the stage to revive the legendary Texxas Jam and Texas World Music Festival. The event brought together top-tier tribute acts channeling the spirit of the ’70s and ’80s, reigniting the magic of a time when rock ruled the Cotton Bowl and fans braved the summer heat for a day-long, high-voltage music experience.

Texxas Jam Rewind

This festival wasn’t just a night of nostalgia—it was a celebration of the powerful role tribute bands now play in keeping musical legacies alive. Acts honoring Van Halen, Boston, Journey, and ZZ Top delivered note-perfect performances that transported the crowd back to a golden era of rock. The energy was electric, the crowds were enthusiastic, and the atmosphere echoed the unforgettable vibe of the original Texas Jam.

The Texas World Music Festival—better known as Texxas Jam—kicked off in 1978 and became a hallmark of the Southern rock scene. It was more than a concert; it was a cultural moment. Music fans from across the state would flock to the Cotton Bowl for marathon performances by rock’s biggest names. It created lasting memories and a sense of community that still resonates with fans decades later.

Back then, Buddy Magazine was a key player in making these events happen. The magazine partnered with major Texas radio stations to sponsor and promote the original Texxas Jam festivals, championing live music and giving both big-name bands and regional talent a powerful platform. That legacy of support continues today as Buddy supports this tribute revival—bridging generations through the music that defined an era.

If you missed this round, don’t miss the next one. This isn’t just a tribute—it’s a resurrection of something Texas-born and rock-rooted. Come be part of the next chapter in Texas music history.
