The Texas Headhunters, a new trio composed of guitarists Ian Moore, Jesse Dayton and Johnny Moeller, have released their self-titled debut album on Hardcharger/Blue Élan Records. Their sound, rooted in blues and rippling with Texas swagger, reflects decades of experience from each member.

Recorded live in just five days at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Studio under the guidance of engineer Steve Chadie, the 12-track album offers a direct, unfiltered presentation of Austin’s blues-rock legacy. The lead track, “Pocket,” written and sung by Moore, channels late-night intensity with a snarling tone shaped by a Paoletti guitar. Throughout the record, each artist alternates on vocals and guitar, creating a collaborative energy rather than conventional solos.

On the airwaves, the album is now featured on Sirius XM’s Outlaw Country, Bluesville and Underground Garage. Outlaw Country will also broadcast a mini-concert recorded in New York City earlier this summer at scheduled times in mid-September.
